Title: Barista
Reports to: Store/Regional Manager
Summary of Position
Normal Baristas, or Coffee Bar Attendants, are responsible for preparing and serving coffee and other beverages to customers in a coffee house or cafe. Their duties include working with other Baristas to help take orders, make drinks and provide timely service to guests… OUR BARISTA’S really bring it and go above and beyond every day working our quick-serve food line preparing yummy treats and of course because they love what they do! We are looking for people who can vibe, are passionate about coffee and can get down slinging some bagels and those looking for an adventure!

- Understand & execute food standards, policies, procedures, specifications, and guidelines of both front and back-of-house operations
- Leads and motivates store team to meet and exceed financial and operational goals while maintaining a positive work environment
- Ensure that all guests feel welcome by providing a warm greeting within 3 seconds of entry, friendly & courteous service always
- Maintains a professional and obvious presence in your station and dining room.
- Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards are met and efficient operations.
- Exhibit a servant mentality, always willing to pitch in to create an extraordinary experience for guests and fellow team members!
- Use suggestive selling techniques to ensure that our guest don’t leave hungry or have to make a second trip up to the counter
Responsibilities
- Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers; selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; and preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies.
- Greets guests & determines coffee interest needs by asking open-ended qualifying questions.
- Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; and answering questions.
- Sells coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
- Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, espresso, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
- Generates revenues by attracting new customers, and defining new and expanded services and products.
- Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; and maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for the coffee bar.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; and calling for repairs.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
- Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; and maintaining personal networks.
- Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be 18 years of age.
- Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the restaurant’s trading area.
- Open availability
- Ability to travel between stores to fill shifts at all locations "as needed"
- All positions require good health and physical stamina.
- Employees typically must work their share of weekends, evenings, and holidays. Students must arrange work schedules that allow them to attend classes
- Possess excellent basic math skills, the ability to operate a cash register or POS system with accuracy.

Supervisor Responsibility
Although baristas have no direct supervision responsibility and are supervised by the assigned Shift Leader for that shift, we are a team and expect you to pitch in as needed and take the lead. The Store Manager & Assistant Manager, will also be there to help support you to achieve our collective goals.
Working Conditions
We work really hard around here; you must work quickly and efficiently to get the job done with an exceptional ability to see the details and work beyond the standards. There is no time to lean or slack off, your peers are counting on you to do your part and you can expect to always be on your feet.
Our peak times are weekends so if you are looking for an office job m-f this probably isn’t for you. You can expect to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Oh yea…we encourage higher education and do our best to accommodate students, but you must arrange your availability and speak with your manager about upcoming requirements. Typically, our front-of-house teamwork is fewer than thirty hours per week.
