POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of the position of a busser is to assist the service staff and managers before, during, and after service. Bussers are to provide all guests with a positive experience and to maintain a high level of sanitation and cleanliness.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are intended as basic requirements. Success will come to the individual that is able to expand upon these job requirements. These requirements may change over the course of employment.
- Arrive at the property in uniform at the scheduled time.
- Ensure that dining area configuration is set to standards.
- Set up and take down dining area daily.
- Carry dirty plates, utensils, and glasses, from tables after diners are done to the designated stationed vendor.
- Wipe tabletops and chairs with the damp sanitized cloth.
- Polish glassware and silverware
- Remove trash from vendors, transport trash to waste room
- Help promote Julia and Henry's events and establishment
- Ability to move tables and chairs, rearrange floor plan
- Assist with bar prep, organizing, and stocking if needed
- Unload and organize product deliveries
- Welcome guests upon arrival and thank them when they are exiting
- Assist guests in carrying whatever they need when they are overwhelmed and need help
- Set tables with silverware and glassware and required napkins.
- Clean up spilled food, drink, and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash
- Ensure bathrooms always remain nice and clean by regularly checking and cleaning as needed.
- Change beverage syrups.
- Assist staff as needed.
- Checks and assists team in maintaining adequate amounts of supplies, i.e., stir sticks, napkins, coasters, etc., for extended service area and remove soiled items.
- Wash and restock all the glassware to full capacity according to par levels, as needed.
- Remove, wash and place all mats in their proper location.
- Empty, sanitize, and replace bags for all trash cans. Trash cans should be completely wiped dry before new bag is put inside. Bring back to their designated location.
- Hose down the patio surface and water the plants.
- Maintain clean dining area and seating areas.
- Maintain departmental hygiene habits.
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing sinks, surfaces, high touch areas, chairs every 30 minutes or as directed.
- Must have basic knowledge of all vendor areas.
- Provide courteous service to our guests and be cordial to all team members.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Lifts and transports service trays weighing up to 40 lbs. to and from appropriate work areas.
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
- Promptly report all maintenance issues.
- Service-oriented must have a professional attitude, you will be dealing with high-end customers.
- Adhere to all state and federal requirements regarding the sale of alcohol.
- Adhere to all Health Department requirements.
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company.
- Any other duties as assigned by the company in order to operate the business most efficiently.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk/stand up 100% of the time.
- Ability to grasp, hold, set down, redirect with hands, turn, control, and manipulate objects.
- Ability to use body parts, arms, hands, shoulders, and back, to elevate an object above its previous surface level. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds waist high and up to 20 pounds overhead.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, carry, push and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis; must be able to stretch to fulfill cleaning/inspection tasks.
- Ability to climb steps, ladders, and other vertical and semi-vertical surfaces to reach a higher level.
- Ability to use body parts on a regular and continuing basis to repeat the same motions for a reasonable period of time without resting.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum two years of high-volume experience preferably in hotels or restaurants
- Exceptional guest service skills.
- Must be able to work without close supervision.
- Flexible and long hours are sometimes required.
- Availability to work holidays, nights, and weekends
- Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the restaurant.
