Scafuri Bakery is seeking a professional, hardworking, and reliable Lead Baker. Could you be the “One”? We are looking for creative, enthusiastic individuals who enjoy baking and creating delicious, fresh items for people to enjoy! We are a small, Italian family bakery in the Little Italy/University Village area. We strive to maintain the family recipes as well as incorporate new items into our offerings, preparing almost everything from scratch. We're looking for someone with experience in commercial kitchens, excellent communication skills and who enjoys working with a diverse group of fun, caring team members.

Full-time and part-time time are available though preference for full-time. Full-time is five days a week including most Saturdays and Sundays at a minimum of 30 hours a week. Flexibility in hours is preferred. Reliable transportation is needed due to early shifts depending on the bake schedule. Interview process will include a stage shift followed by a discussion about likes/dislikes and if it is a good fit! :)

Bake position encompasses:
  • Food Handler's Certificate required, Sanitation Manager Certificate preferred
  • Understands importance and exemplifies great customer service
  • Scaling, preparing and understand correct mixing methods and proper bake temps, and adjusts accordingly
  • Monitoring deliveries, incoming orders ingredients and stock
  • Managing and coordinating a team of bakers and apprentice bakers
  • Following recipes and making sure others follow them
  • Helping to prepare, finish off and bake the bread
  • Planning work schedules and managing restocking
  • Respecting health and safety regulations and making sure others respect them
  • Proper use of all equipment, including mixers, oven, fryer, refrigerator, freezer, thermometers, racks and proofer as well as ensuring equipment is properly maintained and cleaned
  • Decorate cakes, sugar cookies, and other specialty items with attention to detail – royal icing experience a plus
  • Be physically able to work an eight (8) hour day or more while on your feet including ability to lift up to 50 pounds
